FD vs Gold vs Spare8+

Same ₹1,00,000. Same 5 years.

An FD locks in a fixed rate. Gold has grown faster over the long run, and Spare8+ adds a fixed 5% reward on top of gold's growth.

What is an FD calculator?

A fixed deposit (FD) is a savings product where you deposit a lump sum with a bank or NBFC for a fixed period, from 7 days to 10 years, at a fixed interest rate. An FD calculator works out what that deposit will be worth at maturity, so you can compare rates, tenures and banks before you book one.

Doing compound interest by hand is slow and easy to get wrong. This calculator does it instantly, shows your interest after tax, and lets you see how the same money would do in 24K gold or Spare8+.

How to use it

  1. Enter your deposit: type it or tap a preset.
  2. Set the interest rate your bank offers for that tenure.
  3. Choose the tenure and how often interest compounds.
  4. Pick your tax slab to see what you keep after tax.

FD maturity formula

A = P × (1 + r/n)n × t
PAmount you deposit rAnnual interest rate nCompounding periods a year (4 = quarterly) tTenure in years
₹1,00,000 at 6% for 5 years, compounded quarterly: ₹1,34,686
Non-cumulative FDs pay interest out, so they earn simple interest: M = P + (P × r × t / 100). This calculator assumes a cumulative FD.

Spare8+ value formula

V = P × (1 + g + l)t
PAmount you put into gold gGold price growth (~11% p.a. avg.) lSpare8+ reward (5% p.a., in grams) tYears held
₹1,00,000 for 5 years at 11% + 5%: ₹2,10,034
These fixed assumptions simplify the comparison. Actual gold prices, available lease rewards, GST, spreads, fees and taxes can materially change the result.
FAQ

UCO Bank FD calculator FAQs

Enter your deposit, set UCO Bank's interest rate for your chosen tenure, pick the compounding frequency and your tax slab. The calculator applies the cumulative formula A = P × (1 + r/n)^(n×t) and instantly shows your maturity amount, interest earned and post-tax return.

Where profits meet peace of mind.

Buy 24K gold from ₹10 and explore eligible Spare8+ leasing opportunities. Available reward rates and terms are shown in the app, and the rupee value of gold can rise or fall.

Methodology: FD maturity uses the cumulative compound-interest formula and the rate, tenure and frequency you select. The tax option applies a simplified slab percentage to FD interest only and excludes cess, surcharge, TDS timing and individual circumstances. Gold and Spare8+ comparisons use expected annual returns of 11% and 5%, not a prediction or promise. They exclude 3% GST, spreads, fees and taxes. Review current product terms and consider professional advice before acting.
