Published five-year rates
Nominal annual rates for the general public; not a personal deposit offer.

Co-operative banks are excluded because there is no single rate for that category. Check the source and the bank’s current product terms before booking.
How to read this comparison
Same rate does not mean the same return
FD: money invested at the start
A five-year FD earns interest on a lump sum from the beginning of its term. Its maturity value depends on the deposited amount, compounding, tax and the bank’s terms.
Estimate FD maturity →RD: money added each month
In a five-year RD, later instalments earn interest for fewer months. Even at the same quoted annual rate, the maturity value cannot be compared with an FD unless the contribution timing is considered.
Estimate RD maturity →Method and limits
We take the general-public row that includes exactly five years from each institution’s published FD and RD rate information. “Effective” dates refer to those source rate cards, not the day this page was visited. Where a bank offers a special fixed-deposit tenure without clear RD eligibility, we use the ordinary five-year RD row. These are nominal annual rates, not calculated yields; deposit size, senior-citizen eligibility, compounding, tax, penalties and product variants can change the amount you receive.
